Like this: gain controls how long the solenoid will stay at the closed position, the higher the gain the closer the boost controller will get to opening the solenoid at the target pressure, high gain will cause spikes but will also let the turbo spool earlier because ALL of the exhaust gases will be forced through the turbine since the wastegate will not be allowed to crack open (it wont see any pressure until the solenoid opens) this will give you more power under the curve at the expense of possibly overshooting your target boost pressure, find a balance and you will have the best of both worlds. On some boost controllers it will ask you what your spring pressure is, then it holds the wastegate shut till it reaches that pressure, you can actually tweak it by going higher than that amount, but dont get greedy because when you sit at that threshold the car will lurch because it will open and shut the wastegate too quickly. Duty cycle on my ebc is ratio of the base wastegate boost pressure which is the pressure your wastegate will open at with direct reference to boost (turn your boost controller off to find this) lets say your wastegate allows you to make 10psi and you set your ebc at 50, then you'll make 15 psi, set your ebc to 75 then it will make 17.5 psi. If you set it to 100 then it actually holds the solenoid shut so the wastegate will not open unless there is sufficient exhauust pressure to push the wastegate flapper open. On cheaper boost controllers the duty cycle has nothing to do with the base boost, it is simply duty cycle, set it to 50 and it will open 50% of the time. On these it is up to you to adjust the duty cycle to achieve your target boost, it is basically a glorified manual boost controller, look at your peak boost, adjust the duty cycle up or down, make another run, adjust, make another run etc. There are also boost controllers that allow you to input a target boost and will adjust themself to hit it (mine has this feature but I dont like to use it because it takes several hard runs for it to dial in and isn't good at holding those settings perfectly in climate change. If your target pressure is close to your warning pressure, it will overshoot and hit the warning on a cold morning. This would be good for those who dont want the maximum potential boost, like road course racing)
